True Friend Card with Milkpaint Technique

Filed under: Ideas & Templates — admin @ 9:29 pm

true-friend-with-milkpaint-technique.jpg

Oh, I am in LOVE! With a new stamp set, that is :) The “True Friend” set from the Holiday Mini is absolutely my new favorite. I’m using it for EVERYTHING; friend cards, birthday cards, & even one of the Christmas cards for the Stamp-a-Stack I have coming up on October 6th!

For this card I used a new technique I saw recently — a “Milkpaint” background. It’s so easy, & I really have a thing for the distressed look so I have a feeling I’m going to be milkpainting everything, hahaha!

For the milkpaint technique you just pick a color of cardstock for background, swipe your Very Vanilla Craft Ink pad over the background paper, heat set it, then take a classic ink pad in the matching color to your background paper & swipe it over the heat-set vanilla. Easy as pie, you have what looks like weathered wood. Gorgeous!

New Catty Kick-Off was Fun, Fun, Fun!

Filed under: Ideas & Templates — admin @ 10:24 pm

A great time was had by all at the recent NEW CATTY KICK-OFF PARTY!

If you weren’t able to make it, I can’t recreate the food for you on the web, but I can give you the project instructions & pictures!

Here’s the first make ‘n take we did — a TAG featuring those gorgeous new IN-COLORS!

in-color-tag-wince.jpg

In-Color Tag Instructions:

Cut a 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 rectangle of your favorite In-color CS. Cut off the top 2 corners to make a tag. Stamp various images from the In the Spotlight Level II Hostess Set using Versamark ink to give a subtle “watermark” effect.

Use the Word Window punch to punch out a strip of a contrasting color of CS from the In Color collection. Fold the strip in half & attach to the top of your tag with a Square Rhinestone Brad.

Cut a 2 X 3 piece of Whisper White. Punch along one long edge of the Whisper White with the Spiral Punch; Stamp lines using the dotted lines from the In the Spotlight Level II Hostess Set in Soft Sky classic ink. Distress the edges using your Soft Sky classic pad direct to the paper. This will give you the look of worn notebook paper.

Attach the notebook paper piece to the tag at an angle using SNAIL adhesive. Your beautiful tag is done! Use it on a scrapbook page, a card, as a gift tag or even as a bookmark.

And here’s the 2nd make ‘n take we did. It involved a new, SUPER EASY technique — FAUX DENIM.

faux-denim-pocket-card.jpg

faux-denim-pocket-open.jpg

Faux Denim Pocket Card Instructions:

Cut Bashful Blue CS to 4 1/4 X 11. Score along 11″ side at 5 1/2 & 10

Use Night of Navy Classic Ink Pad direct-to-paper: rub back & forth across the Bashful Blue piece. Rub until desired denim look is achieved. Faux denim both sides of the Bashful Blue.

Fold & crease along score lines, folding 1″ flap toward the outside of the card. Staple on right & left through 1″ flap to form a pocket.

Cut Real Red Cardstock to 3 5/8 X 5 1/4. Stamp all the way around the outside edge of the card using the paisley image from Double Line Doodles in Night of Navy Ink. Sponge-rub Night of Navy ink over paisley images for a worn look. Leave a large area in the center open for writing a note/message.

Stamp large, round image from Double Line Doodles onto scrap of Real Red CS with Night of Navy Ink. Using Paper Piercer & mat, pierce through the open dots of the outer ring & the “loops” of the circle image. Again, sponge-rub Night of Navy ink over image for that worn look. Adhere near bottom right corner of pocket with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stamp your favorite greeting from Warm Words on scrap of Very Vanilla CS with Night of Navy Ink. Stamp smaller circle image from Double Line Doodles over & around greeting — stamp off first so you don’t overpower the greeting. Adhere Very Vanilla piece to left side of 1″ flap using SNAIL adhesive.

Insert Real Red paisley rectangle into denim pocket & you’re ready to go! Slide up the red piece to write your message. This makes a great card as well as a journaling element for you scrapbookers out there.
